Work in Kuwait

KuwaitWork permits can be obtained under Articles 17 (public sector) an 18 (private sector) of the Kuwait Labour Law. Health professionals wishing to work in Kuwait must first secure an offer of employment. The Kuwaiti sponsoring employer applies for a work permit from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, on behalf of the employee. Private sector employees must begin the process by obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Criminal Investigation Department. Applications for residence permits (iqama) are made at the Immigration and Passport Department in Shuwaikh.

The World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office reports that 90% of Kuwait’s nursing workforce is foreign-born.
